LA RITMICA PER TAMBURO The original idea of this book stems from the desire to offer young percussionists and students a new point of view aimed at understanding the "rhythm". Referring to the famous statement by Carl Orff: "... at the beginning of every musical exercise, both melodic and rhythmic, there is a linguistic exercise" our intent is to offer, through a process of verbalization of the rhythmic formulas, the possibility of acquiring specific skills for understanding the rudiments of the drum.

5 TAMBURELLO SOLOS In “5 tamburello solos” the results of my personal research of the last years and, obviously, my style on the instrument, all converge.My goal was to propose new sounds, new fingerings, and new attention to melody in order to experiment with and develop the infinite potential of this marvellous instrument. The addition of vocals demonstrates how important the latter is in producing a good sound and the right groove in execution. A NEW WAY OF PLAYING TAMBURELLO Music has always accompanied man in his path, giving him the possibility to express his emotions, dreams, feelings in the highest dimension, giving full voice to his creativity.Amongst innumerable instruments an ancient and trusty way of expression has been and still nowdays is the frame drum. Acareful study and a deep iconographic reading testify the presence of the frame drums already since 1700 B.C. In famous bassorilievo “the great Babylonian drum of Gudea” appertaining to the mesopotamic culture we can already see a drum of the diameter of 110 cm. beated by two players; the presence of these instruments in greek-roman age is testified by the roman mosaic in the “Villa of Guide” in Pompei. In an area that embraces all Mediterranean until the Middle East, in Italy the spread of frame drums has happened thanks to the influence of Islam in Sicily. In the culture of Campania the frame drums are still used in the musical shapes of the tarantella and above all in the tammorriata...
